Surviving Quarantine

Corona totally messed up most of our plans, right? Well, cases started presenting in the middle of my semester, halting in-person classes and delaying the end of the semester. Thank goodness for the internet, everything moved online! Fast forward, and two months in lockdown the government of my home country organised a flight for stranded students to return home. I was a bit relieved but very anxious to return home and see my family and friends.
On the morning of June 15th, my bags were packed, apartment cleaned and headed off the airport. I figured still the air transport have grounded, check-in should be a breeze right? Boy was I wrong. it was way longer than I expected.
Finally, I arrived in my homeland only to be whisked away to a government quarantine facility in a full police/army entourage to spend the next fourteen days. Here are my tips to survive quarantine:

  1. Bring snacks. If your quarantine facility provides meals like that one I'm in, you'll definitely need snacks between your meals.
  2. Avoid boredom. Quarantine is a very controlled environment, so you may be required to spend most of your day in your room. I packed some books, my current crochet project and my adult colouring books so that I don't lose my mind when I've watched all of Netflix.
  3. Stay in touch with family and friends. You won't believe how important those calls keep you grounded during this lonely experience.
  4. Most importantly, Stay positive!
